Worldwide BSOD error due to new update in Crowdstrike Falcon Sensor

The root cause of the current Microsoft outage has been linked to a recent update from CrowdStrike, specifically affecting its Falcon Sensor. This update introduced a critical error that bypassed all loopholes, triggering a series of failures across Microsoft services, including Windows 365 and Microsoft Azure, impacting millions of users worldwide. This particularly impacted Microsoft Windows devices, causing the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error, which results in unexpected system shutdowns or restarts and leads to widespread disruptions in various industries such as airlines, banks, and more.

Despite CrowdStrike issuing a fix to halt the reboot loop, the main difficulty lies with the "bricked" systems. These machines require manual intervention to reboot into safe mode and remove the problematic driver.

...
Temporary manual fix:
  1. Start Windows in Safe Mode or WRE.
  2. Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike
  3. Find and delete the file "C-00000291*.sys"
  4. Restart your computer normally.
